My 12 Weeks Down in Ballymaloe Cookery School

If you are looking for a cooking school that will provide you with a unique and unforgettable experience, then you should consider the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Shanagarry, Ireland. I recently spent 12 weeks at the school and I can honestly say it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

The Ballymaloe Cookery School is located on a beautiful organic farm in the lush countryside of County Cork, Ireland. The school provides students with a hands-on culinary education that focuses on traditional Irish cooking techniques. During my time at the school, I was able to learn a variety of cooking methods, including the use of seasonal ingredients, and develop my skills in the kitchen.

The classes at Ballymaloe Cookery School are taught by experienced chefs who are passionate about sharing their love of Irish cuisine with students. From bread-making and seafood cookery to cake decorating and butchery, the school offers a range of courses to suit all levels. The teaching style is informal and interactive, and the school’s small class sizes ensure that everyone gets the individual attention they need.

One of the highlights of my time at Ballymaloe Cookery School was the opportunity to work in the school’s on-site restaurant. I was able to gain valuable experience in the kitchen and work with chefs who had been trained in the school’s philosophy of using fresh, organic ingredients. The menu changes seasonally, so there was always something new to learn.

In addition to the cooking classes, the school also offers a range of social activities, such as trips to local market towns, visits to nearby attractions, and even the chance to take part in traditional Irish music and dance sessions. It was an incredible way to get to know the local culture and customs.

If you’re looking for an immersive culinary experience, I highly recommend the Ballymaloe Cookery School. During my time there, I not only learned valuable cooking skills but also gained a deep appreciation for the local culture and cuisine.
